The great Sufi saint and philosopher Ibn 'Arabi was asked by his
teacher to explain the meaning of the verse from the Koran "I require
no provison from them, nor do I need them to feed Me." Ibn 'Arabi
thought for a while and then left without a word. Four years later,
when he returned to this shiekh, the first thing his teacher said
was, "Give me your answer. After four years, the time is ripe for it."
