Confusion...

.."in Zen practice, we don't ignore confusion when it appears;
we actually welcome it. When confusion arises in our practice,
it means that we have discovered something new.
The feeling of confusion is an indication
that we are trying to understand something.
So welcoming confusion is actually an expression of wisdom."

Hi Thomas, Just found your blog. Have not read much yet. Have you had mystical experiences? I have, quite a bit by now, starting in 1976 with a guru (Amrit Desai). I'm looking for people who have had the real stuff. Kate

Hi Thomas, This is the next day. The reason I did not email you from the site is that I do not have my PC set up at home & am working from a college library. I cannot get the email to send from here. We might be able to help each other out in some way. I have a newish alternative email address that I never use, so I will give you that and please delete it from your site if you can. If that is not possible, I can always change it. When I say I am experienced, I am not talking about the occult or aliens or anything like that. I mean the very 'traditional' sort of things that people like Teresa of Avila experienced. (The Trinity, the Prayer of Union, Rapture). Although I was a sort of Hindu for 20 years, I was always very attracted to Francis of Assisi & the Carmelites in 16th C Spain. I am now very much a Christian, but I am not at all happy with the church & only go for the ritual, symbolism and communion. I like what you said about how there is nothing in the Bible about Christ dying for our sins. I read somewhere once that the Crucifixion only became the focus of the church at around the year 1000, which, if I remember correctly, was about the same time the political power of the church really solidified. Before that, so they say, the focus of Christianity was on Joy & Healing. If you know about the history of the church, I would be very interested in hearing about it. I was brought up Catholic, hated it, left the church
at 16, went back many years later to find they are still telling the same old fairy story. To me, this obscures and degrades Christ. I will shut up now. Must dash. Please respond if you feel we could have something to learn from each other. katepowell80@yahoo.com (or is it yahoo.net?)
